A Brief History of the North Indian Bansuri,

Hindi: बांसुरी / Bangla: বাঁসুরী / typically is about 14 inches long made from a single length of bamboo with six or seven open finger holes along the stem. It's an ancient instrument associated with cowherds and the pastoral tradition, but is also intimately linked to the love story of Krishna and Radha, Its true age is unknown but it is depicted in Buddhist paintings from around 100 AD and on.
