A Brief history of the piano.
Between 1655–1731 a harpsichord maker called Bartolomeo Cristofori’s invents the “piano e forte” (“soft and loud”) in Florence, Italy. In 1739, Domenico del Mela builds the earliest known upright piano in Gagliano, Italy. By 1853 Steinway and Sons was founded by Heinrich Engelhard Steinway who went onto invented the cast iron frame which lead to the Grand Piano.
