A Brief History of the Flute

The flute is one of the oldest musical instruments in the world and its true age is unknown, regarded to be the first ever wind instrument and is thought to have been used as far back as 100 AD. Elaine Round - Flautist

Elaine Round is a versatile flautist with a wide range of experience with playing in many styles and capacities. 

She completed her classical music degree at University of Surrey in 2001. Whilst there, she specialised in performance, performing solos, chamber music and in the university orchestra. Shortly after she graduated, she performed the Nielsen Flute Concerto with Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra and played for Epsom Symphony Orchestra, Croydon Symphony Orchestra and Thames Philharmonia, as well performing a variety of chamber music.
